The Scarpa Instinct Lace is a light and sensible shoe for ambitious climbers.
These lace ups are primarily suited to sports climbing tours at higher levels and on tricky boulders with small footholds. The are perfectly designed for precise footing on small ledges. The shoe has distinct pre-tensioning and is asymmetrically cut. These shoes can of course be resoled by the manufacturer or a cobbler, and so they offer long lasting fun on the walls, as long as the comfortable outer material in mixed fibres remains intact (Scarpa will also replace the pre-tensioning). The Vibram XS Edge sole is medium-hard and is well suited for heavier climbers and for larger people. The rubber is drawn upwards around the toes and heels, so that you will always have optimal grip for heel hooks and overhangs. The delicate feeling in the toe area means that getting a grip in small holes is not too difficult.
The lacing allows you to adjust the shoes with much greater precision; in the end, the question of lacing or Velcro is a matter of taste or experience. The practical pull-on loops mean that the shoes can of course also be attached onto a belt with carabiners.
The Instinct Lace by Scarpa is a shoe developed for technically demanding climbing and not for beginners. The perfect cut, which can seem very narrow at first, is a real advantage when it comes to difficult tours.
Note: According to the manufacturer you can buy Scarpa shoes in your usual shoe size for a good fit. The Instinct can be bought by experienced climbing enthusiasts two sizes smaller (in European sizing).
