A precision climbing shoe for
challenging routes: the Furia Air from Scarpa. This
super-lightweight climbing shoe (only 150 grams per shoe!) is both incredibly
flexible and sensitive, making it great for smaller footholds and structures.
The downturn and asymmetrical last direct the foot’s power through the big toe
and deliver stability and surefootedness, even on tiny structures. The insole
is a minimalist flex medial strip that supports the flexor halluces brevis
muscle in the big toe to ensure high levels of precision.
The 3-mm thick XS Grip 2 sole from
Vibram is exceptionally flexible and offers the perfect amount of grip. Plus,
there are various tension systems that help retain the shape of the shoe,
support the foot and give the shoe some dynamic support. The perforated
microfibre upper fits like a second skin and provides a good amount of
ventilation as well. Lastly, the Furia Air comes equipped with the Wave
Strap system, which offers excellent adaptability to different foot shapes. If
this shoe doesn’t make you want to head straight to the crag, what else will?
